Office 365 won't open pdf. I'm using the awesome Warband Battle Sizer tool. I set the troops to 514, and in a massive skirmish that causes more than this amount to be used, I realised it causes some degree of stutter.

Now, I have a rather powerful PC, including a 980 Ti and 4790k. I am running at the absolute max (Without HDR) at 1440p.
However, I know it is an engine limitation. The stutter is not horrible, and is rather playable, but I would still like it to be smoother since I am also playing at 144hz.
Any .ini edits that can help things a bit? Is there any sort of Warband stutter patch, sort of like FONV Anti-Stutter?
I am aware Warband was not designed around 500+ npc battles, due to the aged engine amongst other problems, but I believe there are players that managed to get over 1000 troops working at least semi-playable.
I believe the issue here is the system RAM. Warband is not using enough of it for a 300+ battle. I have 16 GB, so it is not a huge concern. Warband seems to use around 5.0-5.2 GB of RAM for a large battle with over 500 troops fighting all at one time. This is not much more than the 4.9-5.0 GB that is used with 150 troops, which is a much lower amount of npcs on the screen.
Is there anyway to force Warband to utilise more RAM? I've tried nearly everything, including WSE, .ini edits, and I even ran Warband in single-thread mode. Nothing yielded much of an improvement if not making it worse.
Some players report no major problems with over 500+ troops, so I know it can be done with minimal stutter, I just need to find out how. Help!!!!

Mount & Blade: Warband is a game of great medieval combat, but it’s still a game that leaves a lot of its potential on the table. If you really want to get the most out of the game, you have to start looking at mods. Below are the best Mount and Blade Warband mods out there, mods that help make the game a little bloodier, a little more hectic, and a lot more fun. Whether you’re looking for visual tweaks or full conversions, you’ll find what you need in these mods.
What do you think are the best mods in Mount and Blade Warband? Tell us below.
A World of Fire and Ice
If there’s one thing that the combat of Mount and Blade really calls for, it’s a better setting. While the game itself is fine, there’s always a feeling that it could be a little bit more epic. There’s no better way to make the game more epic than to throw it all into Westeros, the setting of Game of Thrones. While you won’t get the political intrigue of the novels or the television series, you will get a good chance to fight over the Iron Throne. For some players, just having that chance will be enough.
Mount and Musket: BatallionMount And Blade Warband Mods
Another full conversion of the game, this one throws the setting directly into the Napoleonic era. Made for multiplayer, it’s as close to getting a recreation of the era’s tactics and combat as you are ever likely to see in a PC game. While it certainly has its bugs to iron out, it’s still a great new way to play the game. Consider it a look into the future for a game that really could go many new places. A must-play for history buffs as well as players who want to try something new.
Decapitate and Dismember
Have you ever thought that Mount and Blade plays things a little too clean with its combat? If so, you’d probably enjoy this mod. One of the best Warband mods for those who want a little more gore, it allows for decapitation in most scenarios. While the actual effect is a little comical, it’s a great addition to the base game. Does it add anything that’s not cosmetic to gameplay? Not really, but in this case it’s worth the download anyway. It’s certainly a little more satisfying to take down an enemy with this mod enabled.
cRPG
There are many mods that attempt to turn Mount and Blade into an MMO, but this one really seems to be the closest to success. cRPG adds everything you’d expect from a good computer RPG, including persistent player levels and an online campaign. While it’s not exactly an MMO, it is a great online multiplayer game for those who want to try out something new. If nothing else, it shows the overall strength of the engine and hints at where the game could go. Give it a shot if you want to support a very interesting project.
Full Invasion 2
Horde mode has become incredibly popular in many other games, so it only makes sense that Mount and Blade would have its own version of the popular mode. Full Invasion 2 pits you against waves of invaders and a number of special bosses. It is, as with most versions of the mode, more of a test of stamina than anything else. You probably won’t survive the whole time, but you’ll get incrementally better as you keep fighting waves of new enemies. It’s definitely one of the best tests of skill out there.
Mount and Blade: Retexture
While Warband is a solid game, the truth is that it’s getting a little long in the tooth. This is a game that desperately needs a visual overhaul and there is a vast modding community that puts effort into just that. If you’re looking to make the game look better, you can do a lot worse than Retexture. The mod takes a pass at the textures of the game and attempts to make them look a little more passable. You’re still not going to get a perfectly modern experience, but you will get something that’s well worth a download.
Warsword Conquest
Warhammer is definitely one of the more popular worlds for Mount and Blade conversions. This particular single player mod is probably the best of the bunch, featuring much better retextures and some neat new mechanics. As with most conversions, it does take some liberties with the setting and you’ll never quite forget that you’re playing a reskinned version of this game. Still, if you want your Mount and Blade experience to be a little more fantastical, you can do a lot worse than this mod. Give this one a shot if you need something visceral that still scratches the Warhammer itch.
Warband Battle Size Changer
Have you ever felt like the army sizes in the game were a little too small? If you’re really looking for something bigger, this might be the mod for you. Battle Size Changer ups the limit from one hundred fifty combatants to one thousand, at least in theory. Unless you have the most powerful hardware on the market, though, you’ll really be increasing the number of combatants to a few hundred more on the screen. Still, its’ definitely one of the best ways to make the world a little more hectic.
Battles are a large and frequent part of the Mount&Blade series. They help you progress through the game by generating experience, money, renown, loot, prisoners, and can directly increase weapon proficiencies.
Battles can be conducted in either of two ways:
One of your options is to allow your troops to attack without you, allowing the game to generate your losses and the enemies' losses until one side emerges the victor. This is highly unfavorable however, as the calculator the computer uses often inflicts 1:1 casualties on your troops no matter what their quality is.
The second option involves directly leading your troops in combat. This is the best way to engage in any battle because your presence can easily beat staggering odds.
To start a battle you can attack the enemy or wait to be attacked. You can also join a battle already in progress between two other parties, but at least one of the parties must be either an ally or a neutral party and the other must be an enemy; you cannot join a battle between two enemies. There are some mods that allow you to join any battle, including one between two enemies.
At the end of battle, you will receive the after action report which will tell you the casualties, allow you to take prisoners, and collect loot.
TerrainEdit
Different terrain requires different tactics and formations. Dismount your knights when battlefield is mountainous, and attract your enemies into deep rivers and slow them down.
CommandsEdit
Using commands is another way to improve your chance of victory or to reduce your losses.
Using the number keys (default setting) you can select a portion of your army (such as your infantry, cavalry, or archers) and give them an order with the Function keys (F1-F11 with default settings) to hold a position or follow the player etc.
If you hold Shift, you can select more than one troop type at the same time.
Hit the Backspace key during battle to see a list of all the available commands.
Unit typeEdit
0. Everyone
1. Infantry
2. Archers
3. Cavalry
4. The two unit types that were not previously selected (e.g. if Cavalry is selected, it will select Infantry and Archers)
OrdersEdit
(Note: the above hotkeys are for classic Mount&Blade, Warband provides a different and broader set of options.)
FormationsEdit
(With Fire & Sword only)
TacticsEdit
There are many things to consider when planning a battle, including your surroundings, your army composition, and your own style of play. These factors will determine your best course of action.
Here are some basic tactics that can be very useful.
Neutralizing enemies is not the only way to the victory. In Warband and With Fire & Sword, enemy units may flee the battle if their morale is reduced to a certain value.
MoraleEdit
Enemy units have their own morale value, which is determined by recent battle outcomes.
Enemies will not start running from battle until at least 45 seconds have passed.
Ranged CombatEdit
Archers and crossbowman are much more effective when positioned on hills.
Troops without ranged capability can avoid volleys of projectiles by being positioned behind hills.
InfantryEdit
With heavily armored troops on foot, a slow advance can be best at times, such as against large numbers of ranged enemies.
Foot soldiers of any kind can benefit from being in a compressed formation when fighting cavalry.
CavalryEdit
Cavalry can be used to distract an enemy army while your other troops relocate.
If you order your infantry to hold position and keep formation, only their cavalry will charge and their infantry and archers will reach you much later. This will prevent your army from breaking up (when your advantage is similar/higher, this is always true).
OutnumberedEdit
If your advantage is miserable, any type of any troops of any kingdom will charge mindlessly against you.
Kingdom of Swadia always seems to have 'prepare time' to line their cavalry before charge.
Some less obvious strategies can win you fights that are insanely in enemy favor.
